Advantages of Equipment Refurbishment

Equipment refurbishment is designed to increase the service life of your existing equipment. Refurbishment offers a significantly less expensive option than purchasing a new truck, up to 50% less in some cases (depending on many factors including the chassis and body condition). Additionally, refurbishment means you keep the equipment you and your team know how to operate, reducing the downtime associated with training on new equipment. Plus, you retain the familiarity of your existing truck while upgrading its technology, performance and reliability and have it returned to you looking like new. We can also upgrade the unit with the most up-to-date options and materials.

At Joe Johnson Equipment (JJE), our technicians work with you to understand your expectations and budget, guiding you through the refurbishment process step-by-step and ensuring all your questions are answered.

Additional Benefits Include:

  • Faster turnaround: Avoid the long lead times associated with new truck deliveries
  • Extended service life: Revitalize your truck and extend its lifespan by several years
  • Warranty coverage: Enjoy the reliability of completely replaced or rebuilt systems, backed by a 1-year warranty on parts and a 3-month warranty on workmanship
  • Government rebates: In some cases, refurbishment may be eligible for government rebates, further reducing your cost
  • Retrofitting options: Upgrade to the latest technology for improved safety and ease of operation

When to Consider Refurbishment Over Purchasing New Equipment

Assessing the total cost of ownership is crucial. New equipment may offer advanced features, but its initial purchase price can be steep. Often, refurbished equipment delivers a better return on investment. The best candidates for truck refurbishment typically meet these criteria:

  • A mechanically sound chassis that needs a new body
  • A mechanically sound body that needs a new chassis
  • A mechanically sound body and chassis that needs a refresh
  • Highly customized units that may be costly to replace
  • Equipment where avoiding the need for operator retraining is a priority

The Refurbishment Process: What to Expect

The refurbishment process is meticulous, aimed at restoring machinery to its optimal condition. A JJE service technician will ask a series of questions to understand the unit’s current condition, application, expectations with refurbishment, and budget to provide a preliminary estimate. Upon approved, a JJE technician will dismantle the equipment, he will photograph and document the condition of the unit to provide a detailed quote.
